5 QUESTIONS YOU NEED TO ASK BEFORE CHOOSING A STUD
Thinking about getting a stud for your female Bull Terrier? Make sure you don’t accept just any stud. Here are a few questions you should ask before you begin the breeding process.
DOES THE STUD HAVE ANY FAULTS?
There’s a chance your female has some faults that are not ideal for breeding. You will want to make sure that the male stud you choose to breed with does not have any of these faults. The puppies are more likely to get these undesirable features if both parents have them, especially the female’s flaws are recessive.
CAN I SEE HIM IN PERSON?
The reality is that a breeder can make a lot of claims about their stud. Ask to see him before you make any arrangements. If he has any physical flaws, you will be able to see them before it’s too late.
CAN I SEE GENETIC TEST RESULTS?
If you’re skeptical about the lack of flaws of a stud, you can always ask if the dog has been tested, and if you see the results.
HOW OLD IS THE STUD?
If the stud is older, you will be able to tell if he has any age-related health problems that might be inherited by the puppies. You can also get a more accurate picture of how long the puppies might live.
IS HE AKC REGISTERED?
Any breeder can claim that their stud is AKC registered. However, if you ask for proof of the registration, then you will be less concerned of how truthful they were. After all, you’ll make more money with puppies that are AKC registered and both parents of those puppies need to be registered for your puppies to be eligible for AKC registration.
